Aghh! Everytime I renew my EvE subscription, Egosoft releases some massive new update to X3 to steal my attention! This happens all the time; it can't be a coincidence. They're watching me....

Anyhoo....

Update 3.0 for X3: Terran Conflict

The "superbox" has also been released.

Got to admire Egosoft. The game is quite long in the tooth, but they still are adding stuff. Hopefully, we will soon hear what their next space sim is going to be as this officially concludes the X-series.

Heard about this, can't wait to play it. I unfortunately lost all my progress when my computer crashed, but this will give an reason to put X3 back on.

Did they improve the autopilot at all?  (I'm guessing no.)

If I recall, a lot of the autopilot stuff was hardcoded and difficult to change. They just added a whole bunch of new content.

Yeah, no autopilot changes, just new content.

I am really eager to see what Egosoft comes up with for their new series.  The X franchise was on the cusp of greatness (it was only held back by some UI flaws and quirky game design decisions, such as no quick save).  The next franchise could be epic!

My biggest complaint about the game is apparently none of the developers knows of real life physics / technology.

Comm range is ridiculous (a few kilometers, wtf?), ships have no inertia (I cannot kill acceleration, and then rotate 180 to shoot someone chasing me), ship speeds are ridiculous (250m/s? the SR-71 could go 3.5km/h!), etc.

Also, where are the cock pits? I know there are some (not terribly great looking) mods that implement cock pits, but having something official that actually replaces the HUD would be great.

Does this mean it's been the same since the original game?  I mean I actually started at X2 but I've yet to find an X# game I can actually *play*.

I'm not buying any more of their crap, I feel like enough of a sucker for having bought what I did.
